GreenAir collaborated closely with the talented landscape design team at Xanthe White Design and Evan Mayo from Architecture Bureau to create an iconic external green wall for this award-winning beach house. This installation not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the property but also aligns with the homeowner’s vision of sustainable, nature-integrated design. The project exemplifies GreenAir’s ability to bring lush, living installations to even the most challenging environments, showcasing innovation and artistry in biophilic design.
This exciting residential project provides a grand entry to the property, with the green wall beautifully wrapping around the house and framing the windows. Given the home’s proximity to the ocean, the site is exposed to a salty easterly wind, which presented unique design and sustainability challenges. To ensure resilience, GreenAir carefully surveyed local coastal gardens, identifying plant species well-suited to these tough coastal conditions. This adaptability not only highlights the green wall’s durability but also allows the garden to thrive year-round, embracing the natural environment of Mount Maunganui.
The green wall incorporates a sophisticated, high-tech management system to keep the plants healthy and vibrant. This system includes a recirculating watering mechanism with programmed nutrient feeding, PH testing, and regulated top-ups. Such precision ensures that the green wall remains lush and well-maintained, regardless of the harsh coastal elements. The advanced system represents GreenAir’s commitment to sustainability, supporting long-term plant health while minimizing water waste and environmental impact.
